Replay attacks are a type of network security attack where a hostile actor intercepts a sender's and receiver's communication. Attackers who use replay either postpone a message's transmission or send it as their own.
Replay attacks are used to dupe participants in a certain transaction into performing the hacker's desired action. They can request money or access to private information from the alleged sender or receiver before agreeing to let a vital message through that is required before a transaction is completed.
Adding more identifiers to a transaction is a practical technique to avoid falling prey to such attacks. To assure the veracity and validity of any transaction, the communicating parties could, for instance, link time codes in addition to digital signatures that are linked to a message.
