What is Repair Miners?

In the Filecoin network, repair miners are one kind of mining node that has been proposed. They differ between storage miners and retrieval miners, two additional categories of miners. It should be noted that the Filecoin network does not yet support repair miners.

Repair nodes are a particular kind of node that promotes "network self-healing," according to the creators of Filecoin. Data is kept in sectors, which are each a predetermined size in the Filecoin network. Storage miners fill these sectors with data that is kept on behalf of their customers who hire them for a specific amount of time. Deals are the names given to these agreements between storage miners and their customers. In the case of a problematic storage miner, repair miners are envisioned as a third actor who could ultimately step in and help mitigate the dangers.
