Genesis Block

What is a Genesis Block?

The first block ever mined for a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin is known as a "Genesis Block." The Genesis Block, sometimes referred to as Block 0, is the initial block in a blockchain, and it is where all subsequent blocks are added. Since each block refers to the one before it, it serves as the ancestor to which all other blocks can trace their descent. This started the procedure for approving bitcoin transactions and creating new bitcoins.

It took six days after the Genesis Block for the next block, referred to as Block 1, to be mined. The average timestamp interval between blocks is supposed to be 10 minutes, therefore this is unusual.
